Award in Adapting Exercise for Independently Active Older People

Award Aims:

This award recognises the skills, knowledge and competence required plan and adapt exercise programmes [gym] for Independently Active Older People.


Award Outcomes:

By the end of the course the learner will be able to:

  • Define an Independently Active Older People
  • List the benefits of activity with age
  • List the age related changes that happen with age
  • Identify the exercise considerations that relate to the age related changes [above]
  • Identify the correct screening process that need to be adhered to with this client group
  • Recognise appropriate session structure for this client group
  • Identify how to adapt gym based sessions for this client group
  • Recognise functional assessment protocols for this client group

Pre-requisites:

The learner must hold minimum of Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing gym based.


Learner / Tutor ratio:

16 to 1.

Face to Face [2 days].
