Being a Personal Trainer

Life as a Personal Trainer

As a personal trainer, you will work with different people every day, often in varied environments. You can either work full or part time in a gym, or freelance in gyms, parks or people’s homes – or do a bit of everything. Flexible working hours mean it’s easier to fit your work around your family and social commitments, which is perfect for personal trainers with young families. Working in the health and fitness industry also means you can maintain your own health and fitness as a priority, which isn’t always possible when you’re working nine to five.

Case Study

Paul Stevenson

“I’ve been working as a personal trainer at Soho Gyms since February 2008, in the new Borough branch.

There’s a really friendly, supportive atmosphere here – it’s a great team to work with, and a really fun atmosphere for people to come and train. Although I work in Borough, I also have clients at the other Soho Gyms locations.

Each gym has a lively, fun atmosphere, and I really enjoy the variety.

In terms of my clients, there’s nothing like when someone finally reaches a goal that they’ve been working towards. I get such a buzz from seeing my clients’ fitness improve. It’s why I look forward to coming into work every day.”
